The Community Services Department and Commission would like to recognize Reece Grose, Recreation Aide, as the 4th Quarter 2019 Shining Star Award Winner, said Commission Chair, Jackie Wall Doornik.
Reece has been with the Community Services Department since February 2016. Since then Reece has proven himself to be an irreplaceable and valuable asset to the City of Glendora specificially in the Human Services Division.
The first thing you notice about Reece when you work with him is his infectiously positive attitude. He is always willing to help his fellow staff members or the participants of the La Fetra Center. He takes on tasks without complaint or hesitation because he is committed to his job and the betterment of those around him. I have often seen Reece walk through the La Fetra Center and say hi to almost everyone he sees. Participants will seek out Reece’s company to tell him how their day is going, or to ask him how he is doing. He has created a bond with the our participants because he takes time out of his day to meet people, to learn their names, and to make sure they know they can ask him for help.
Often if Reece is not working his usual shift we will have many people come up to us and ask us where he is. That is the impact that Reece has made on our participants. His absence is noticed and he is missed. We have recevied countless notes, emails, or calls from instructors, participants, and renters in regards to what a great employee Reece is and how much they enjoy him.
Occasionally Reece has been working a shift where a participant has fallen or has been injured and he is always immediately there to help. Wehter it be administering first aid, or holding the hand of a participant who is waiting for an ambulance to arrive, he is there and present. Reece is also very creative and enjoys helping make decorations for our Special Events. He will ask us if there is anything we need help with, if can he assist in a project, or how can he be of service to his fellow employees. He brings great ideas to the table and to the staff. He also has a sense of responisiblity for the La Fetra Center that is fundamental to its day to day operation. If something is broken or dirty Reece either fixes it or cleans up the issue and let’s all of the staff know because he is a great contributer and communicator.
Reece has been instrumental team member in the Community Services Deparmtnet for many years and is vital to the La Fetra Center’s continual success. For these reasons we would like to recognize Reece Grose as this Quarter’s Shining Star.
